Hiya Jugs
Its actually a very nice kit.
Has a resin engine and figures, quite a bit of PE and the detail is excellent on the plastic.
Not sure yet what colours to do it in. The italians had some really cool camo schemes, might do one of those.

cheers
steve

Woohoo... here we go then.

Not very much done as its sunday and the wife decided that its a good time to go shopping...

Made a start on the Chassis tho, four pieces make up the main chasis frame.
This is a brand new kit from Italeri, so the fit should be quite good although there is a bit of flash here and there.
STEVES PROJECT 0015

Suspension is next and the steering arms for the four wheel steering.
This is actually the first time im going to be using Resin bits, aaaaaand thanks to my purchase yesterday of an airbrush compressor, my first airbrushed model...

More later

Ok.... we have some progress.

Firstly the completed chassis, undercoated in Citadel Skull White spray (in my opinion just about the best undercoat)
STEVES PROJECT 0012-1

And now, the moment I have been waiting for like 10 years....
The chassis again, but this time... ahem airbrushed. My first real attempt at airbrushing. has been painted with Valejo Dark Yellow.(needs a couple of touch ups)
STEVES PROJECT 0022-2

why i didnt buy an airbrush ten years ago is beyond me, but now I get it!!!!!
Ok, floor plate now also complete
STEVES PROJECT 0032-1
I havent put the sides on because I want to weather this before the sidewalls go on.

And finally, I removed the resin engine from the plug and stuck the engine and transmission together
STEVES PROJECT 0042-1

So thats it for now.... stuff to do, and maybe ill post a bit more later.

Right then, a wee update

One thing I have noticed is that there is a distinct lack of stuff on this kit. Went through the cupboards and spares box, but have come up with zip! I have no italian stuff.
Just have to gemodify other stuff then.
Okay, waterbottles, from the German pattern, not strictly 100% correct but close enough.
STEVES PROJECT 0016
Also found a backpack from my Humber Scout car and some maps from the german box.

Right, weathering has begun and I must say that it looks absolutely shit on the photo, which is a pity because it looks quite good using MK1 eyeball... sigh.
STEVES PROJECT 0025

Ill go back and redefine some of the chipping.
Anyway, heres a final shot, with the newly requisitioned stuff in place.
STEVES PROJECT 0034

Bit more later hopefully

(Dust of all the cobwebs)

Well, here we are again then.

Sorry the WIP has been a bit, well it hasnt been anything has it...

Ok, So, I was waiting for some new paint to arrive, which it did, (actually quite a bit did)
STEVES PROJECT 001-4

And in the meantime I got a new one of these (Macro, R295 and its hundreds, Well worth a go)
STEVES PROJECT 002-2

So. the main bodywork has been put together, and quite honestly, this isnt any easy bugger to build.
STEVES PROJECT 003-2
STEVES PROJECT 006-4
STEVES PROJECT 005-4

Loads of stuff in various stages of being squirted, just waiting for the gun mounts to dry so i can start on them. Weathering this is going to be a challenge because every picture ive seen, they all look COMPLETELY knackered, so ja, dont quite know how im going to handle that yet.

Ok then, more later.

steve

Very cool indeed - AT LAST cyclops I'll be starting some weathering pretty soon too and i'm going to do some final touches to the Pz IV C so for what it's worth i'll do a small show and tell on how I do chipping and rust.

That would be cool.
Realise now that I should have undercoated green with maskol for the chipping, so i need
a good way to do chipping.

Like the Kugelblitz btw. Very nice

Ooooook then.

I shall first admit something, and that is I'm struggling with this kit.
I don't normally, and shy away from, desert finishes because I just cant seem to get the end result looking right.
I didn't plan the finish right from the start, so I didn't get the correct paint sequence, maskol etc down to do a completely knackered looking subject, so im just going to weather it as a newly arrived vehicle rabbit

Right then, here's where I am at the moment.
STEVES PROJECT 0012-3
STEVES PROJECT 0022-3
Have resprayed everything in 'Italian Sand' (which I finally learnt is Tamiya Desert Yellow)...
and have down a brown wash all over.

I must say everything just about fell together, and this is really an excellent kit. The photo etc stuff is a bit on the thick side tho.
Ok so one or two details still to add, and then the gun to finish.

I need to get over this mental block of sand finishes I have, so hopefully I can make it look pretty...

More later, have to clean up the desk today and that might take a while...

Ok chaps , I'm going to call this one.... Finished.

STEVES PROJECT 002-1-1

STEVES PROJECT 003-1-1

STEVES PROJECT 005-2-1

STEVES PROJECT 004-1-1

So, lets bring you all up to speed.
After realizing that id painted it the wrong colour, it was a quick squirt over with the Desert Yellow and it actually came out quite nice. (Well I think so)

Unfortunately my attempt at the serious chipping isn't really that visible because I did a mist coat over it that was a little too thick and most of it disappeared, oh well.
Weathering is Tamiya Brown & Black Panel Wash, Mig & Humbrol Powders and good old Drybrushing.

This really is an excellent kit. Would recommend it whole heartedly...

Ok, that's it then...
Thanks for watching

Steve
