Hey Jugs.

What a cool Idea!!! Good one mate.

I like the idea of a year build, and the idea of a kit that is more challenging than most (to me, thats anything with wings on it)

However, I do have one certain kit, that is lurking in the stash, that fits the bill perfectly and it'll take me about a damn year to build the sod.

So, If I, Mad Steve, are going to build a Wingy thing, i may as well start right at the begining...

My entry shall be, The Hasagawa 1/16th Wright Flyer...

(oh shit, thats gone and done it)

Steve

Mine will be a 1/48th B24 Liberator (totally re-scribed) with a whole shitload of internal and external PE. I shall be starting that on Jan 01.

But that's just an airyplane with bits stuck on!
You'd have to at least BMF the whole thing... What a Face

I'm having a rethink in my direction...
My No2 choice was the Bradley project, I've got the Eduard internal and external sets for the old Tamiya M2 Bradley, with new tracks and a couple of other jobbies.
I might possibly do that, instead of the Wright Flyer, simply because it takes up less space.

Ahhh ya sissy... Very Happy
Decided, I'm doing the Bradley. Most of the internals are rebuilt in PE, as well as the turret internals etc, and im going to try get the engine and gearbox for it as well.
That Wright kit frightens me...

I need to get some more folks on board with this and I need to find some more active members. Do you go to the Goldreef modellers society meetings up there in Jo'burg Steve?

Hiya

I have been trying to get to the Gold Reef meetings, but life and work keep getting in the way, (Im going to miss this month as well).

How about hitting the hobby shops? Getting a couple of signs up, flyers, something like that.
Ill put something up on Britmodeller too.

If there ever was a string bag that I'd like to build (someday), its a De Havilland DH.2 - that takes me back to my childhood reading "Charlies War" in "Battle" comics.

See link to Eduard.

affraid  Bloody Hell!! That is a big kit @ 1:32 - very nice! Very Happy

My modelling kitty is a little depleted at the moment, but yeah, I'd seriously consider buying the DH2 kit - probably the Eduard 1:48 with all the PE stringing and stuff. Wink

I don't normally like building planes but I would love to build one of those wing nut wing jobs..
Possibly wait until the exchange rate has come down a bit.

The Eduard kits are significantly cheaper. There are two options in terms of detail and price - 12 Euros & 25 Euros Vs $65 for the wingnut kit, but I guess that the size and level of detail justifies the jump in price tag. Rolling Eyes

Anyways, that is one cool kit!! cheers

Aren't 48th scale string bags awfully small and finicky?

Good point, Jugs!

In actual fact, I have no idea! Question

But then again its a matter of perferance, price and storage.

Anyway, it's now on my hit list of "to build" kits.

I suppose if you want something in a more manly size, you could do the 1/16th scale Sopwith Camel from Hasagawa....

To be honest, I have no idea!

But, I am curious as it is a very detailed kit with all the PE cables and @ about 29 Euros, you sure as hell can't complain.

Have a look at the pdf of the build sheet on the the Eduard web site.

Well I can say that there will definitely be a decent prize so far but i want to expand on it. So far the site is sponsoring a 1/48th Scale Academy Phantom F4 N/B plus a stunning set of decals from Eagle strike. As I get more sponsers on board I will update but on 1st of January it is cut off date and the official GB announcement will be made. So between then and now I need to try and get some retailers on board. Entry will shut off on 1st June 2014 so all entries must be in by then, but all will be announced and made official on 1 Jan.

Cool!
I have inserted my finger and changed my mind AGAIN...
I will be doing a Tamiya 1/12th Porsche, and doing lots to it, but the majority additions will be scratch built.

Hi guys,

I'm kinda interested and have been chatting with Steve, who suggested that I do the NCR that I had started. He mentioned a 25% completeion rule, which may be applicable as the kit is miles from finished and is very much in pieces as there are on going mofications yet to be done plus the fact that I have been hankering about building a garage diorama for it.

This fits in with my tinkering approach to model building, rather than flat out building.

What are your thoughts?   Suspect

Yeah or negatory?

Hooooooooowdy

I reckon that Snowy has a good entry here. From the pics he's shown me of the build, he hasn't reached the 25% mark yet, and the rate he's going with that NCR racer, it'll take him another year to build it... What a Face
Anyone else interested. Phil maybe? Can we tempt him away from the aussie beer and women for long enough?

I promise on the next big build I'll do the 1:48 Airfix SAAF 12Sqn "Canny" Canberra Bomber, Serial No.453 with all the extras and maybe some more. This will be in memory of the "queen of the sky" and my days back in the SAAF ('Nam). The "Canny" was the first kite that I ever worked on, an amazing kite but what a bitch to work on!!

Anyway, great memories!!

I think that's fine Snowy, I am thinking however, with only three of us perhaps we will have to down grade it this year to just a regular Group Build. We can always upgrade it again if we pick up members through the year. Whatcha thunk
