Righto chaps, lets kick this off.

Here's my entry, Tamiya's 1/12th Martini Porsche 935 Turbo.
MOM GROUP BUILD - STEVE 001-4

I'm not going to do a sprue shot pic, as there are 20 odd sprues...
MOM GROUP BUILD - STEVE 002-1

But she's a big bugger...
MOM GROUP BUILD - STEVE 003-1

There is a Photo Etch upgrade set for this, one that I simply cannot afford, so, instead I am going to try and replicate the add on bits as best as I can, which will include new details for the engine, cockpit, fuel tank area, brakes etc.
This is a massive kit, with over 400 parts (which was a monster in its day).
This is my monster kit because I built this about 12 years ago, when I was not in a good place and it ended up being destroyed, but thanks to Junglie, he sold me one of his....

Hope you enjoy the show.

Steve

Episode 1

MOM GROUP BUILD - STEVE 006-3

Although it looks like there's a lot going on, there isn't, because the above picture is only like 5 pieces stuck together (the entire chassis is one piece).
Firstly sprayed with Tamiya white undercoat, then racing white, then left to dry 24 hours.
The whole chassis was then masked off, leaving only the cockpit which needs to be sprayed matt black.

Once that was done, it was drybrushed with a mixture of Humbrol 33 black and 61 flesh. I always struggled with drybrushing black until I read about using black & flesh and as soon as you do it once you'll realize it just makes sense.
I always drybrushed black with light grey and it just never came out right, but this idea works I think.
MOM GROUP BUILD - STEVE 008-2

Don't know if you can see the colour difference in this shot...
MOM GROUP BUILD - STEVE 007-2

The more astute amongst you will notice the big ejector pin marks on the chassis, not the small circles on the floor, they are supposed to be there. I've left them because once the interior starts going in, you wont see them.

Righto then. Lots of planning to do and some detailing work coming up.

Enjoy
Steve

Episode 2

Started with some wiring in the front end.
MOM GROUP BUILD - STEVE 0023
MOM GROUP BUILD - STEVE 0033
MOM GROUP BUILD - STEVE 004-1

The wire is from a craft shop, (R25 for 10m) and all the hoses are from the scrap box. Cable commectors and insulators are made up from different sizes of tubing.
The hoses that run under the Battery and Oil tank will barely be visible so im not worried about where they end up.
Can really do anymore wiring up front until the fuel and oil tanks are in, so the cockpit is next.

More soon

WOW impressive - just an observation Steve, isn't it going to be difficult to paint around all that cool wiring?

Morning Jugs.
Nope, Its been squirted white already and thats the colour its supposed to be. There is a small amount of overspray from the black that needs sorting out on the sides, but thats easy to solve.
The front end doesnt get any attention until much later in the build, so im only going to start weathering that when we get there.

Started on the cockpit yesterday, will post up some more pics soon.
