| Starting this one today, not sure if it goes in this section. Prototype first flew March 18 1945.

| This is where it goes Phil yup. I have had this kit in the stash for plenty years now and I so want to start it but I started the horrible Italeri one (so long ago I even forgot to add it in my list of WIP's!!) and I must finish that first before i'm allowed to start this one so I'll be building with you in spirit. | |

| Finished the decals tonight the Future over the last decals is still drying as the pics were taken. These would have to be the worst Tamiya decals I have used, unlike the usual thick stable Tamiya offerings, these were super thin, resulting in mass breaks with just about every decal. They still had Tamiya 1998 on the sheet, who knows who's they were though. Also the decals reacted strange with my usual Future over the decals, it was like they had a water proof coating on them which made uncovered spots form over the decal With the frustration of trying to lay these down I made a few mistakes, and when they grabbed no method worked to loosen them up to reposition, if I did get one free, it resulted in more splits and breaks with them, so best left alone. A little more paint detailing in a few spots then the flatcoat goes on, then some weathering will happen. | |

| I can't make out any decal breakages so your application is outstanding. At the risk of talking out of my a**, your decal troubles intrigue me. Â It's mid-summer here in the northeast U.S. Â Not the hottest summer and not the most humid. Â And I have been having decal problems myself. My gloss coat (lacquer) would not "gloss," my Cutting Edge decals worked either 100% perfectly or stuck or broke or folded under, some flattened out with MicroSol and others said "No, I'll stay full of air and appear bubbly." So maybe depending on your weather down there, these darn older decals act well or finicky depending on weather conditions. Â I'm gonna try keeping the air conditioner on before, during, and after decaling and airbrushing. Keep at it, your plane's looking great. Ken | |

| Thanks Ken, it's called selective photography !!
no really, I do work harder when I get breaks, which is prety rare though.
I'm damned if I know what was wrong with this decal set, I have decaled in any weather situation, summer the air con is on cause it's so damned hot and humid, Tecmod I tried once and they broke due to their thinness, tonight I did decals on my JV44 bird, same weather, Cartograf made in Italy - as always with them - beautiful to work with, no probs at all.
Also these Tamiya ones wrinkled with the top Future coat on, they were perfectly flat and conformed into the panel lines the next morning though.
It's on hold at the moment, crap rain so no chance for using flatcoat until the sun decides to appear once again.
Cheers!

| This kite was the predecesor to the A-10!! It set the standard for the number hardpoints, especially for a "prop job"!! For the CAS role there is only one way, "low 'n slow" and the kite needs to rugged as hell! I'm looking for to seeing her fully "tooled up" for the job! | |
